Math: We continue to review multiplication and division skills weekly. Currently, we are working on an extensive unit on fractions (addition, subtraction, and multiplication of fractions and mixed numbers. Please make sure any books that come home are returned to school the next day. Thank you!
Science: We are currently learning about the properties of matter. Students will have an opportunity to explore the physical and chemical changes that matter undergoes. With the nicer weather approaching, you will find us outside testing our hypotheses!
Religion: We will continue to work on our unit on the Ten Commandments. Each week we will learn about another commandment and how we can best live out this commandment in our daily lives. We will also be closely examining the weekly gospel.
Math: We have been working dilegently to learn how to work with decimals with the operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Students are most enjoying activities that allow them to put their skills to the test. We will also begin to review for our math final at the end of the year. Starting early with review will minimize testing anxiety and help students prepare for their future cumulative assessments in middle school.
Science: In science, we are learning about our solar system and the oceans of Earth. These brand new topics have drummed up a lot of excitement and engagement in our lessons. We will replace the typical scientist of the month projects will ones related to these new topics.
Religion: Our fifth graders will be receiving religion instruction 3 times a week from Ms. Marino. Updates on topics they will be focusing on will be posted here, as well as, any important due dates for projects or assessments.
