Hi boys and girls~

I just want to start by saying how much I miss each and every one of you!!!  Seeing your faces and spending our art classes together always brings me a lot of joy!

So much has changed for all of us these past few weeks and our  regular routine was abruptly interrupted. So, for the time being we can’t go to school, movies, malls, restaurants etc. I for one am a creature of habit who doesn’t like change too much. But we have to listen to what is best for the moment and hopefully very soon things will be back to normal.

We now wave from a distance instead of hugging or shaking hands. One thing that always makes me happy is greeting my students as they enter the art room.  Some of you, especially the younger ones, greet me with the best hugs. I can’t wait to stand in the art room door waiting to greet you all again. We know that this new “social distancing” is temporary, but not being around all the people we care for is very difficult.

In my life, I always feel very blessed to have my son, Tyler.   As I reflect now, I realize that God blessed me with many many children...ALL OF YOU!  I have been in Long Beach Catholic for 19 years, and in art I get to see the whole school from kindergarten through 8th grade. I’ve had many of you for 9 years already. That bond is so strong!  I just wanted to take this opportunity to tell you all how special you are to me in my life!

Now, onto ART:

I am going to be posting step~by~step instructional drawings on Monday’s, Wednesday’s, and Friday’s. You can watch and follow along. I am only going to do sketch drawings using just a piece of paper and a pencil. Some people don’t have art supplies at home, so I wanted to keep it simple.

As you are watching me on the video, you can pause to catch up, you can restart from the beginning, or you can even stop if you’re busy and go back to it later on. All of the videos will remain up, so if you want to redo your favorite character, you can!

Remember, I am drawing for all 9 grades. Some of the characters might be easier...some, more difficult.  Pick and choose or try them all. I hope you find some you like!

Of course, if you have crayons, markers, oil pastels, colored pencils, or water colors you can use them at home. If you don’t, you can use the supplies at school when we go back. You can finish your masterpieces however you like.

This is all for your fun. I am not grading you. You are not obligated to do this art.
IT’S ONLY FOR YOUR FUN!

For the children who do these drawings, you can bring them back to finish coloring when we finally return to school. All our art supplies are there waiting for us. We can also staple our work and make a cover page. Then we will have our very own art book created by YOU!
