Welcome Home!
On Friday, February 18 the Middle School students celebrated the Olympics by completeing different activities in each class. They were able to compete in curling, which was a big hit with the students. They also raced their" Pasta Sleds/Cars" down a ramp. Students constructed snowboards and worked on their skiing skills. It was an exciting day for everyone. (A great way to end a week of tests)
I hope everyone had a wonderful relaxing Presidents Week.
This week on Wednesday we have a Liturgy for Ash Wednesday. The children will receive ashes at this mass. Wednesday is a half day of school.
Sixth Grade: Students in the sixth grade will begin a new unit on how matter is passed through an ecosystem. They will learn that organisms depend on other organisms for survival. They will learn the path of the sun's energy through plants and animals. The students will identify organisms as producers, consumers, or decomposers.
Seventh Grade: The students are beginning a unit on the Levels of Cellular Organization. They will learn how organisms carry out life processess and the differences between unicellular and multicellular organisms.
Eighth Grade: Studnets will begin a new Unit: Cell Growth, Division, and Reproduction. They will compare asexual and sexual reproduction. Students will learn the role of chromosomes during cell division and describe the main events of the cell cycle. They will learn the steps of mitosis and what happens at each phase.
